I am Mog Anarchy, and I like to play games. Whether they are old, new, retro, modern, online, offline, console, computer, critically acclaimed or notoriously bad. Here on my blog, I rant about, review, trash talk, praise and generally talk about all of my favourite and least-favourite games. I also write my own guides on how to accomplish tricky tasks, show off my creative endeavors and challenge myself with crazy in-game tasks. I also have a bunch of gaming merchandise which I am glad to show off. So drop me a comment, I love hearing your questions, criticisms, comments and general gaming discussions. :)

How My iPod Turned KNUCKLES Into SPIDERMAN

I love iPods; I got an iPod 80GB classic as a present from my mam and dad for passing my GCSE exams in late 2008, all ready for me to wear at college and be all anti-social with. I also really like video game soundtracks, as evidenced by my obvious love of video games. :)

So my iPod (I call her Lisa) is filled with awesome heavy metal stuff, random cheesy 80s and 90s pop and a buttload of video game soundtracks, including Final Fantasy VII (obviously), Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and most of the 6th-gen Sonic The Hedgehog games.

I was sitting on the bus the other day, listening to some music from Sonic Heroes, I was bored and didn't want to make eye contact with the other ugly people on the bus, so I looked at the screen. My iPod is fastidiously organised, by the way, everything has proper titles, album names, dates and album artwork. For video games, I use their box art, of course.

For those of you who have an iPod Classic, you'll know that the album art gets a weird little mirroring effect, like it's beside some water or something. This is what produced this rather odd result:
Look at Knuckles' head - I saw that and immediatley thought SPIDERMAN. My iPod turned KNUCKLES into SPIDERMAN. How awesome is that? :)

Video Game iPod Tracks: Sloprano (HEAVY METAL COVER!)

This is a song I've had on my iPod every since I first discovered it - and recently hammering out some old playlists, I've regained my love for it and listened to it on repeat for hours on end.

When anybody mentions Conker's Bad Fur Day, the first thing most people thing of is THE GREAT MIGHTY POO and his awesome opera singing. I loved the game, I loved that song and took it upon myself to replay the boss battle several times to educate all of my friends on this game's awesomeness.

Anyway. This song. Two words. HEAVY METAL. It's a heavy metal version of The Great Mighty Poo's theme song, A.K.A. Sloprano. It's by an awesome guitarist who goes by the YouTube name of Ensigeetard with sweet vocals by lowalkoroc. It's fucking amazing.

Ensigeetard is also cool - he responded to my comments practically instantly and said he was cool with me embedding this awesome song on my blog. He also does other heavy metal covers of other video game music like Pokémon. :)

Video Game iPod Tracks: Flying Battery Romance

When I passed my GCSE exams in 2008, my mam bought me a 80GB iPod Classic as a present. I called her Lisa. She's stood me in good stead and I still carry her with me every time I'm forced to use public transport to drown out the sound of fuckwits and their screaming children.

Anyway, what's on my iPod? Mainly a shitload of heavy metal albums and practically every song that had been used in some manifestation of a Guitar Hero/Rock Band game. But also, I have a fondness for video game soundtracks (obviously). My biggest GB-fillers are the entire soundtracks to Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Final Fantasy VII and Sonic Adventure 2.

However - I'm a big fan of fan mash-ups, YTPMVs and original video game parody/homage songs. If anybody provides their song with a download link as an mp3 or iTunes link, I'm ALL OVER IT. (And for those who don't, I just use WavePad Master's Edition to steal it. :P)

One song I've recently added to my iPod is this amazing mash-up, a combination of Sonic & Knuckles and Lady Gaga - it's called FLYING BATTERY ROMANCE. It was made by the YouTube user spankypark and now has pride of place on my iPod. :)

Go to their video and leave them comments, thumbs and download  the damn song. It's so fucking awesome. It's not like the typical shitty mash-ups where the songs don't even match tempos - in this one, the two songs actually compliment each other really well.
